Why and How to Add a Watermark to Your Images Online
6/18/2026
Protecting Your Digital Assets
If you are a photographer, artist, or small business owner, sharing your work online comes with the risk of someone stealing it. A simple and effective deterrent is adding a watermark.
What Should Your Watermark Say?
Typically, a watermark includes the copyright symbol (©), the year, and your name or brand. Example: © 2026 SizeSnap Photography.
How to Add a Watermark for Free
You don't need complex editing software to protect your images.
- Use our Add Text Watermark Tool.
- Upload the image you want to protect.
- Type your watermark text, choose a font, and set the opacity (transparency) so it doesn't ruin the image.
- Position it across the center or in the bottom right corner.
- Download the watermarked image.
Remember, a watermark should be visible enough to deter theft but transparent enough not to distract from the main subject of your photo.
